The coagulase-negative staph species

The majority of coagulase-negative staphylococci are opportunistic bacteria primarily responsible for nosocomial infections. Three factors contributed to these infections: the immunosuppression, the presence of venous catheters or prosthetic materials, the Coagulase negative stap is multiresistance to antibiotics. Stap epidermidis is the species most frequently isolated in hospitals.
Within the Coagulase negative stap, two species are responsible for community infections: Staphylococcus saprophyticus by its ability to adhere to the bladder, epithelium causes cystitis among young women, and Staphylococcus lugdunensis is responsible for skin infections and infectious endocarditis.
