Staph and antibiotics

Staphylococci may be sensitive to various antibiotics but have a remarkable ability to acquire multiple characters of resistance.
Susceptibility will be performed on all strains considered to be pathogenic given the frequency of multiresistant strains, particularly in hospitals. The choice of antibiotic is guided by the antibiogram and clinical context.
Multidrug resistance to antibiotics, including the Meticilline and aminoglycosides, are frequently encountered in Staph and Staph epidermidis haemolyticus, frequently isolated in hospitals. The antibiotics of choice are represented by glycopeptides, rifampicin, the synergistines and fusidic acid.
